Big Training Days

DZ Big Triathlon Training DaysLooking for a fun, interesting, and challenging triathlon training day? Discomfort Zone has just the thing: DZ Big Training Days! Athletes can come out for a full day of triathlon training, skills, drills, and instruction at a fun, social event. Big Training Days are a great way to stay sharp during race season and keep in training during the off-season while enjoying the company of fellow triathletes.

We’re excited about delivering serious training events for triathletes of all skill and experience levels, but it wouldn’t be a DZ triathlon training day if it wasn’t fun as well. Naturally, you’ll swim, bike, and run – but we’ve been busy planning skills improvement, informative info sessions, and even a little friendly competition.

A triathlete watches as Coach Mike Coughlin demonstrates stroke technique, poolside at Sudbury Big Training Day III, March 2013Participants can expect a solid fitness workout in each sport, set by Head Coach Mike Coughlin. Coach Mike sets the workout’s length and difficulty for each athlete, so everyone gets a solid workout and everyone can participate at the same time. Coach Mike also takes pride in setting workouts that are not only a physical challenge, but also reinforce his points about technique, methods, and training, so athletes learn something they can take home. Big training day is as much about learning skills and technique as it is about training.

One of the best things about a DZ Big Training Day is the opportunity to train for swim, bike and run all in the same day. A complete outdoor venue allows for a solid day of coached swim, bike, and run training. Besides a good day of training, and advantages like doing a transition run right off the bike and onto the run, it’s fun to come out and train with a group.

Discomfort Zone training is specifically planned to provide enough challenge for an IRONMAN while still being beginner-friendly. We find that a good mix of athletes of all abilities makes for a fun training day. We’ve had athletes aged 9 to 69 – and athletes training for their very first try-a-tri to their 15th IRONMAN – all training together and having a great time. We hope you’ll join us too.
